I can't believe that it has come to this point where I have to simply make a journal about this topic because of that one fnaf fangirl who tried to force me to quit drawing one of my own characters. It's simply, idiotic; but I'm getting tired of hearing the same thing every time I tried to draw this character....

Heyo guys! It's Mimi again with another journal and another topic, but this time it's a relative topic. Ohh!~

Now, what is this relative topic you may ask? Well it's mainly about people comparing ocs to other characters that exist in the world, and what better way to find a perfect example of that is with one of my own original characters, Dimitrius. Aka, Dim.

Dimitrius is a shapshifting spirit and the eldest of "The Spirit Kids" (which is an Ask that is currently under concept and on the back of my mind for a while now.) and was one of my most favourited characters on my page a while back.

And every time someone creates fanart or when I draw him for once, I will always get atleast one of these type of comments every once in a while...





Which at first, it didn't really bother me at all. But as time goes by, it gets tiring seeing these types of comments over and over again which each new upload, to the point where now this shit is starting to happen when encountering fnaf fans:

And today, I am finally coming out of my shell for this one, since it's getting distasteful at this point.

I had Dimitrius, and aswell as Mimi, for a long time. (Mimi was created in early 2013, while Dimitrius was later on created in the late 2013-2014) And I was never aware of this purple dude until the very first fnaf game was created along with the most popular design for purple guy was out. Which was Deo's P-Guy Design, aka, this guy:


And ever since then I've been secretly developing Dimitrius out of public site as soon as the fnaf fandom got larger and larger and so on. Why? Because if they even see Dimitrius, they would immediately start comparing him with this dude.

Hell, I still got Dimitrius' early designs and references back when I was roaming around Miiverse. (which was a nintendo facebook-like site)

But when the fandom literally died, I thought it was safe for me to start showing Dim once more, but no, I guess I was wrong. (Since I got kicked out by some fnaf groups on here just because of Dimitrius being too similar to Deo's design. Plus the fact that my art of him is now rejected.) And at this point I do not tolerate this type of behavior. For you see, comparing an artist's character to an already existing one is not only discouraging but also disrespectful in some cases. I am speaking for myself yes, but I'm not the only one who is suffering the same fate and problem. I know that this character means a lot to me, and to have it being compared to something else, it's really upsetting. It feels like I'm being accused of copying or stealing ideas off of someone else, which is not what I want to do as an artist. I take inspiration for my characters yes, but not in this manner.

Now I know that not EVERYONE means what they say in a accusatory type of behavior, but for god's sake have some self-awareness towards artists next time. :/ Unless that someone is completely STEALING the character (backround, personality, and all) DO NOT compare things like this. And this is not just characters here, you should never compare people to others, you should never compare content to others, and hell, you should never compare a person's ART SKILL to another's. You are currently belittling an artist's creativity. And trust me, it's not uncommon, it happens every single day believe it or not.

So yeah..my apologies if this became a rant..heh. But to higher up the spirits, I would like to thank those of you who made Dim fanart for me over the months, I appreciated them very much regardless of the minority.

So yeah..don't compare characters kids. Especially with the cute/hot ones. Haha.
